There are many advantages to using a scythe, described in detail in the ‘Info’ section. The one disadvantage is that a certain level of knowhow is needed before reaping the rewards of this wonderful tool, but this can readily be taught.

A one-day course is recommended, to provide the best platform for mastering techniques with subsequent practice. My courses are based around Austrian scythes. Similar principles can be applied to English scythes, but the continental scythes now available are much lighter, and more importantly, are readily adjustable. This makes it possible for anyone to enjoy mowing, without the noise and pollution which accompany petrol powered machinery.
